Here is error :

An error occurred while using the BCP utility--data was not correctly copied to the server. Please verify your ODBC setting and that BCP has been correctly installed. Microsoft Dynamics GP utilities will now exit.

Your earliest reply will be highly appreciable.

When you go to run it, right click on the program and 'run as administrator'. this should clear it up.

    Hi Leslie,
Isn't that a non-sense that according to the KB929908 you have to either disable UAC or elevate the user's privilege to Administrator in order to run Dynamics GP client ?  I always thought this is kind of stupid (and it goes back to GP 6 or 7) to put the user in the local Administrator group (back to Win2k or WinXP when there was no UAC) in order to run a corporate client-server apps, that's developed by Microsoft and should have a deep knowledge on how to manage all those security concerns!!! For me this was always and remains a real security concern :-)

I'm currently back-testing all our applications on Windows 7 in prevision of a corporate deployment at end of Q2, and since I'm responsible for the Great Plains, I started with this... and had my bunch of headaches too... from a so-so running client to a complete non-working installation of the client (does start, login , select company, but quits after that). Very unstable product in my opinion for something that comes from the builder of the OS itself.

I feel that the users are pretty left out in the green with some of their problems (font size, odbc connexion, etc..) when it comes to support with Windows 7.Thanks to people like David Musgrave, it's a little easier for us, but still I think that Microsoft is always behind one step behind for the official support in Customer Source.

That's my 2 cts about Windows 7 integration of Dynamics GP...

    Have a nice day,
    Béat

    Hi Béat,

It does seem that the users need to have way too many privileges in order to run Dynamics, VBA, IM, FRx, and gracious - Terminal Server.

I have to admit it is much better with Windows 7.

    Good luck!

     Hi Leslie,

Nice to see you back since Convergence :-)... Our testings with Windows 7 finally drived us to the conclusion to disable the UAC through GPO rules, not only because of Dynamics GP, but for many other applications that have too  much troubles to work without the administrative rights in the system. It is sad for today's conditions where security threats are a real concern, but it's the price to pay if we don't want to be bugged all the way down by the end-users... I was wondering if GP2010 still need those privileges, but I would doubt that Microsoft changed anything in this behavior.

    Have a great day,
    Beat

    Hi Beat,

I'm running v 2010 on Windows 7/64 and yes, you still have the security issues.

    Sorry,

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

PS are you going to the Partner Connection or the GPUG Summit in October? I have a new cape - no hat this time :)

    Hi Leslie,

Thanks for the info. I've not yet installed my lab environment to test GP 2010, but to be honest, I didn't expected much revolution in this matter, since it would probably mean a major rewrite of the entire GP client core.

Unfortunatly, my company is tight on budget for traveling and training this year, I'ld have loved to meet you and other MVP's again in Orlando, but it will for another time :-)
    Have a great week-end,
    Beat
PS: what color is the cap ?
