BCP Utility error on Dynamics GP11(2010) Windows 7 (64Bits)

Posted on by 18,265

Dear All,

I am getting BCP Utility error on Dynamics GP 11 while running utility first time for Windows 7 Home Premium (64Bits).

Here is error :

An error occurred while using the BCP utility--data was not correctly copied to the server. Please verify your ODBC setting and that BCP has been correctly installed. Microsoft Dynamics GP utilities will now exit.

Your earliest reply will be highly appreciable.

Thanks

Sandip

    Hi Bill,

I'm a little bit stumped... you try to install SQL 2000 on Windows Server 2012 ?... I don't think this is supported..  Your client is running Windows 8.1 ? what SQL client did you install on the PC side to access the SQL server and configure the ODBC connexion ?

did you use the ODBC 32 bits configurator ? Dynamics GP will not recognize an ODBC connexion setup with the regular ODBC utility in Win 7 & 8.x 64-bits...

Your SQL client should match the version of the server side... so unless you have a solid reason to use SQL 2000, I'd at least put 2008R2 or why not 2012...

    Hello Bill,

Did you try to run utilities as Administrator? Right Click on GP utilities and run as Admin.

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks

Sandip, not sure if you are still following this thread, but, I have a situation similar to this and here is what I have.

Installation on SQL 2000 R2 running on Server 2012 - no errors or issues

Client is Windows 8.1 Pro (64 bit / 8gig) - not able to install due to the BCP error

The server and a terminal server have been updated without error.  I am in the databases (connected from the TS) and no errors in the data.

What is with the BCP error?

Any help at all would be much appreciated.

    Johand,

"duinstall.log" file may exist in "Dynamics GP\Data" folder in Program files.

    Thanks

    Johand,

You have to Enable  the BCP option thru' SQL Server Surface Area Configuration  or use sp_configure command (take a look into the SQL Books online for the exact parameters).

    Hello Beat,

    Thanks for the quick reply,

I did all that, and still is not working for me.

When i launch my GP 10.0 it prompts a dialog box saying that i need to execute the utilities of Dynamics GP when i click on yes, then seems to relaunch the GP and i enter my user and password then a new dialog box appears with the utilities and right after i click on next then the final dialog box about the BCP comes up.

Notice i've also checked the C:\Microsoft Dynamics\GP\SQL\Temp\TestBCP.bcp and inside says [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]BCP Connection is not enabled

(or something like that, its in spanish my software).

I have installed Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2

Maybe something i need to setup for 32 bit?? or something?

I have my ODBC setup under 32 bit in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe

Thanks in advance for your help
