Importing phone numbers removes leading 0

Hi,

I am trying to import UK phone numbers (which have a leading 0).

The phone field they are importing to is set to be text (telephone) and the file they are importing from is a CSV, so they definitely have the leading 0 present.

It appears however during the import the 0 is removed by Dynamics.

Any way I can change this behaviour?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi SBeal,

It seems a problem related with cells format. You can try to format cells with the General or Text format.

    Here are steps.

1.Open one new excel, move to Data tab and click ‘From Text’ button to import CSV file.

    2.Text Import wizard.

    3.Import dialog.

    Hi Leah,

Thanks for your help. I don't think it is this - I have taken the CSV file I want to import into Dynamics, viewed it in a text editor (i.e. not Excel as I'm aware Excel strips out leading zeros) where it correctly displays the leading zeros.

It appears to me the zero removal is happening when Dynamics transforms the data.

    Hi SBeal,

    Yes, I got this.

What I mean is that you can save the CSV file as excel, keep the leading 0 in the excel as the above way, and then import this excel to the dynamics 365.

    Hi Leah,

That's useful to know, thanks! The issue is we are importing the file as a csv (as importing as an xslx has previously been problematic)

Other staff are doing this import on a daily basis, and the data is processed in a Flow prior to import (the Flow definitely doesn't strip out the leading zeros). So ideally I want to make the system automated, rather than having to import a CSV into excel, then re save it as a CSV to then import into Dynamics (which I suspect wouldn't work as csv doesn't maintain the excel formatting).
