How to (copy and) modify layout of existing report

So i have a report that i made myself that will function as a substitute of a standard BC report. Now I use .rdl files to modify layouts of a report. Now i was wondering if it is possible to copy the layout file of the existing default report and modify it to my own preference and if so how do i do this?

You can export it from Custom Report Layout, or if you have the on-premise version, you can go to Report Layout and save from there.
