New Government Insurance Benefit Reporting GP 2010

As outlined in this article, the government now wants the amount of health insurance to be reported on an employee's W-2.
Heretofore, this is something that was not set up as a benefit for employees so this no way to track the amout per employee. What are others doing to allow for the reporting of this amount?

    It sounds like the IRS is giving most employers until January 2013 (calendar 2012) to comply with this new requirement.

    While I can not speak for others, personally I am not messing with MR. IRS :)

    As I work for a Health Agency and we do have until the W2's that are issued in January 2013 for the year 2012. And keeping in mind that in order to have that information on those W2's we are currently and frantically setting up new benefit and deduction codes to handle just that.

    We use to track only the pre and post tax deductions, however under the new systems we will have multiple benefit and deduction codes, some taxable and some not.

    Just like the Fed to give us even more work to do :)
