Hello:

In what table is the "Company ID" field found in the Company Setup window that you open by navigating to Tools...Setup...Company...Company?

Thanks.

John

The table is SY01500 (Company Master) and is in the system database (typically called DYNAMICS).

    Hi There, Ian!

Thanks!  I knew about the SY01500 table in the DYNAMICS database.  I'm surprised, though, that that field which is in a "company" window comes from the system database.

That's kind of a shame.  I was going to add that field to another table within the company database in SmartList Builder and report off of it.  (It's a long story.)

Hmm...oh, well.  I was hoping that it was in a company database and not the DYNAMICS database.

Okay.  Well, at least, I have the answer.

    Thanks, again!

The main company setup information is stored within the system database; this is so that when you copy live to test you don't take that information with the database.

    Ah!  That makes sense!

    Thanks, Ian, for the "background".

Company ID and Company Name are available in Smartlist Builder.....

    Hi Roger:

Yes, I know that.  And, you're right.  Those calculated fields are very helpful.

I did not think that I could use those, since I programmed a T-SQL script within SmartList Builder to pull data from GP's SOP30200 table and a table from a developer's database.

I was going to try to join to the table that holds the data for the Company Setup window and was surprised today to learn that that is pulled from SY01500 in DYNAMICS.

Since I found another way to do what I was thinking yesterday, the question that I'm going to ask is moot.  But, could I have actually used those fields, even though the SmartList that I built was based strictly on my programmed SQL script that pulls data from both GP data and "outside" data?

It should work unless you are using a dynamic SQL script to get the data, in which case I would just modify the script to include the DB/Company Name in the results.  (that's what we do with our custom dynamic scripts)
