Using "Team Member" licensed users for data import

Posted on by 495

Hi all,

Can D365 users with the "Team Member" license be used as targets for data imports? Basically I'm looking for an alternative for stub users. I've got an online environment where I want to run test imports with active users, but it would be expensive to have fully licensed users in place just for testing purposes. It would be handy to be able to use the Team Member license to test, and switch to full licenses for go live.

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks, Ben. We've got a small group of full users licensed already, but since the migration is going to involve a lot of trial-and-error and reruns of the import, I was looking for a way to validate from rest of the userbase ahead of time without costing a lot of money. But we're not looking to violate any license agreements, so we'll work with stub users. Though when I imported the stubs D365 didn't give them the salesperson role like it's supposed to, but that's another issue.

    Thanks again!

Microsoft does not currently impose any technical restrictions on team licences so you can use a team licence for everything but you would (technically) be breaching the terms of the license. I should also note that an instance is also supposed to have at least 1 user with a full licence...
