Configuring Access Permissions for Reopening Released Purchase Orders

Hello Community,

I'm currently working on a client project where we need to configure access permissions in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central related to the reopening of released purchase orders (POs).

The client's requirement is as follows:

01. By default, regular users should not have the capability to reopen a released PO.
02. Access to reopen a released PO should only be granted to specific users who are given explicit permission. Ideally, this permission should be configurable based on individual users (configurable)

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your assistance.

In the Permission set where table 38 Modify permissions are given, try to add a Security filter on table 38 field 120 (Status) = Open.
But this would also disallow them to adjust Posting Date or Expected Receipt dates... so I doubt it will be useful.

Other option would be to develop such functionality, that in User Setup You add a column - Allow Re-open PO, and only if user has checkmark here, only then he can re-open the PO.

Another option is to personalize the profiles of the users that should not be allowed to release a PO. All users would be assigned the same profile that has this action button hidden. You then disable user personalization for that profile so they can't add it back.

I doubt that BC allow such permission control to such detailed level without impacting other areas.  another routing to consider is to create a workflow and set a trigger on the header where status changed to released, approval must be needed.

If you do not customize it, you can only hide Purchase Orders through the Personalization or Security Filter function, so that users cannot open order confirmation again, such as printing, sending orders, etc.
Personally, it is better to customize it. You can add a setting in User Setup. Only users with this permission can reopen orders.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
