What controls when my custom alert emails send

I have setup multiple custom alerts, and the changed based alerts batch job runs every 30minutes (I have tried hourly as well) but regardless of when the batch job runs, I allways seem to get the alert +/- 12 hours after the change has happened.

I am using exchange as my email provider but have also tested changing the individual users settings to smtp no chnage there either. I will add that the alerts are almost instant when testing in my sandbox enviroment though.

Thanks

    Hi Charles,

The thing I can think of is system performance. When you set up the frequency of batch processing for change-based events, consider the balance between the timeliness of alerts and the performance of the whole system. You can enable or disable and even delete alerts when they are no longer needed so that you can improve the performance of the whole system.
