Master plan parameters: Receipt time

Guys,

I have trouble to understand what the Receipt time on MRP parameters setup do really. Can you help me?

D365 give me this explanation... but really what that do? What impact this have on production, PO, SO?

Receipt time

Enter the time that is automatically assigned to all planned orders that are generated. Master scheduling calculates planned production orders backward from this time. The time is also important with regard to calculating futures dates and messages for planned orders.

The expectation is a production order will be received at this time, and the hours planned back from this depending upon the route time. If your calendar is 09:00 - 17:00 and to make the product takes 4 hours then it would start at 14:30 on the day prior to the receipt time. If due to capacity constraints your planned receipt time is 13:00 then you would get a delayed message as it will be late.

Think of it as the time production has to finish to enable a shipment to be completed on that day, but life is never as simple as that!
