Linking Parent Account with the same name caused error

We are attempting to link several accounts up to a parent account via Scribe.  However the platform is blocking the relationship because the accounts have the same name.  Each one is a different address and I'm attempting to link them to the parent site.

Is there any way around this?

I considered adding the city to the Company to cause them to be unique...

It sounds like you have got something in the setup/settings wrong.

I'm not sure if I understand the problem.  Are you saying there are two accounts that have the same name?  or you think scribe is blocking it because you have a few accounts specifying the same parent account.

I haven't used scribe but if this was a normal import.

when you specify a value in a lookup field then you need to pass in a value which will only return one record because if there are two records returned in a lookup field then CRM or scribe in this instance doesn't know which record to choose and fails to import the file.

This is because scribe is using the company name to find the company ID and returning the same ID for the parent as the child. CRM does not allow a record to parent it's self - hence the error.

Using the city would work I this makes the name unique. Having unique names as far as you can is generally best practice anyway since it allows you to identify records in lookups etc.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott
