users unable to access delegation on workflows

I have been trying to figure out why users cannot access users to delegate to. Where is the security that drives this functionality?

full user -> user preferences -> Workflow User Delegation is all good until we click the delegate to magnifying glass and binoculars...no results, nothing happens when clicking on binoculars

web limited user -> user preferences -> Workflow User Delegation is all good until we click the delegate to magnifying glass and binoculars...it tells me that user doesn't have security privileges to open this window. blah blah blah

part 2 of this would be - what security is needed to allow a user to delegate task for another user? example is payroll admin/AP clerk needs to delegate tasks for a manager that is unable to do it themselves

AND from the web client I am unable to exit the Workflow User Delegation screen once it is open....it says A delegate must be selected.

You gotta type one or two chars and then click Find., else nothing happens.

Try using the security profiler in GP Power Tools(formerly SDT) by David Musgrave to identify what is that resource name and what security is missing. You might want to assign GPPT admin role to that user temporarily to trace the security, otherwise the user cant see the security profiler option.

To exit....pick up an user temporarily and then exit without saving.

Hi Michael - we had a similar issue and I resolved by creating a unique security task, capturing the necessary workflow items. I'm including a screen shot of the selections made for this new task and hope you find it helpful.

I then assigned this task to the security roles developed for the approvers. Good luck!

Hi Michael,

There was a bug in the Delegate form for the User Preferences, as when a user gets into there, it cannot close the window until a name has been added to the form... :-(. I think this one has been fixed in R2 (not sure about this)

Even the security was completely missed for this form, so a regular user cannot even open it.. I'm doing currently some testing with the GP2015 web client and the WF 2.0.. going to post back here when I've some answers.

Hi Beat, thanks...

I am on R2 14.00.0778 ...I have learned that the directory lookup is not working however if you type into the fields it will find the workflows and people....
