Using email router in a test environment?

Today, we have CRM 2011 installed in both a production and test environment.  We allow all of our workflows to run normally in test so that we can make sure things work as we want, but we intercept automated emails sent from the test environment at our spam appliance based on the IP address of the test server.  This way, we can inspect the mails, test workflows, etc.

However, our spam appliance is going away, so we are wondering if anyone has ever configured their email router to "catch all" emails, route all mail to a specific address, or any other method to achieve being able to use the email router this way.  Or, is there a best practice for achieving this goal?  Thanks.

    Hello J. Whitetaker,

I'm concerning with the same problem without finding a solution.

Did you find a solution for your environment?

    Thank you.

    Best Regards

    Dirk

    Hi JWHITAKER,

You can also achieve this by using Email Token (CRM1XXXXXX) which is concatenated to subject of every mail sent from CRM.

In test environment CRM, in system setting->email-Tracking token. Change the prefix to TRM.

Now in Outbox ask users to create a rule that every mail that starts with "TRM:" should be moved to a particular folder.

We ended up creating a black hole mail server on Linux that is configured to catch all outbound e-mails sent through it and forward them to a specific account.  So our test CRM environment sends mails normally, but is pointed at this special server.

Thank you very much. May that's an solution for me in future.

For a workaround I deactivated crm connection of email router to test environment. For selective tests (we do not need email functionality all the time there) I can delete email queue and active connection.
