Hi we are trying to setup a BC fresh (with no historical or open transactions) to manage our control system assembly (annual rev less than $1m). Basically it has 80 parts that we purchase to assemble this piece. there are couple of sub-assemblies but we mainly care about the main assembly (one). We generally assemble per order that takes about a week to get this done. costing wise, we would like to go with standard costing model. We need to keep track of inventory of the raw materials as sometimes it takes about 1 to 4 weeks to get the parts. and it will be nice to calculate the cost price of the main assembly. no resource/labor charges that we need to take into account when calculating main assembly cost. just the raw materials. we want to implement at the simplest possible way. I thought of using one assembly BoM and use the Assembly orders to manage the assembly process. Would that be complicated? any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also would like to know, what are the posting groups impacted. If we were to use std costing model, do we still need to run inventory re-evaluation (from my understanding this isn't needed). thanks a lot.
