Switch between multiple vendors on one item

Hi,

If we have ex. 2 vendors for one item, and want to use both, for dual sourcing.

Is there a fairly simple way tD365 can suggest which vendor to use, so the vendor is applied maybe every second time.

It is so the purchaser do not have to remember which one to use each time, because then he/she has to go back and see who we used last time, and that could maybe be several weeks back.

Because we want to keep both vendors and buy from both, but switch between them.

Can the system in some way make a suggestion or can I set up some parameters of some wort?

    Hello Nana Hansen,

    I could not find any workaround to suggest solution OOB.

    Considering approved vendor would be defined at Item level and Create Purchase Order form does not have item selection but only vendor. So in this case user first decides vendor for whom he is placing order and then selects item on PO line.

    So if you have say Item-1  > Approved Vendor-1 & Vendor-2 and Item-2 > Approved Vendor-3 and Vendor-4

    Say the last PO was created was for Vendor-1 > Item-1, on what basis would you decide whether user wants to created PO for which vendor unless you know the PO would be for Item-1 or Item-2.

    This does not seems possible through OOB, and considering the logic cannot suggest even customization road map that could help.
