workflows stopped working?

Hello - I developed a process workflow in CRM. The w/f is triggered when a field value updates on a case. The w/f was working earlier today, but then it completely stopped working this afternoon. I did a basic google and 1 person suggested restarting the CRM Async Processing Service. That did not fix the issue. I tried deactivating it and reactivating the w/f but that did not fix the issue either. I tried assigning the w/f to someone else and then back to me, but that did not fix the issue. Do you have any ideas on how to debug/fix this issue?

    Can you change the async processing service account to local system and restart the service?

    Any error message in the application server's event viewer?

    I have faced similar issue before but restarting the CRM services have resolved it.

    I toggled the w/f owner b/t a different owner and then back to myself and this seems to have fixed the problem.

    You mean the workflow was deactivated, owner changed, then reverted back, activated and it worked, right?

    No, the w/f was activated, before I toggled owners, if that's what you're asking?

    Yes, of sorts.. so basically the issue seemed with the access rights of the user, right?

    not really, I just jiggled the handle, and it started working
