    Hello Yash,

The Dampener (% of Total Capacity) field in Business Central’s Work Center setup acts as a tolerance buffer during production capacity planning. It allows the system to ignore minor variations in load that fall within a certain percentage of the Work Center’s total capacity, helping to avoid unnecessary rescheduling or overload warnings.

For example, if a Work Center has a total capacity of 8 hours per day and the Dampener is set to 10%, the system tolerates a load variation of up to 0.8 hours (10% of 8 hours). So, if the scheduled load is 8.5 hours, it is still considered acceptable because the overload of 0.5 hours falls within the 0.8-hour tolerance. However, if the load reaches 9 hours, exceeding the dampener limit, the system will flag it as an overload, potentially triggering rescheduling.

Hope this answer will help you!

    Regards,
    Mansi Soni

You'll also see the Dampener field in a few other places, such as the Item Card. Simply put, it defines how much extra load is acceptable before the system raises an alert. For example, if the dampener is set to 5% and the allocated hours are 100, the system will accept up to 105 hours without raising any warnings, allowing smooth execution
