Hi guys, simple and easy doubt.

Scenario:
- MS Dynamics CRM 2016 Online;
- Entitys: quote, quotedetail; product;

I created a custom word template to Quote. Somethink like this:

Product ID
(quotedetail)
Product Description
(quotedetail)
CUSTOM FIELD
(product)
Quantity
(quotedetail)
Product Description
(quotedetail)
Price
(quotedetail)
Total
OK OK NOT OK OK OK OK OK

Question:

I need to insert a custom field of product entity in quotedetail.

What is the best practice to achieve this?

    Hi Paulo,

    For your requirement, SSRS report is the best option. Below are the reasons why you cannot go for word templates with your current setup:

    1. If you want to add custom field, then you will need to create document template for Quote Product entity as per below screenshot.

    quote-product-template.png

    • Now if you go for this option, then you cannot download the template from Quote record, and you will have to go to quote product record and download the template.
    • As you cannot download the template from quote record, you will be able to export data of only one quote product record at a time and there will be no use of grid. I believe you are looking for something like, you will have quote details at the top and quote products in the grid. So this will not be possible in your scenario.

    You can do below workaround to achieve this using Word templates:

    • Add the custom field on the quote product entity as well and when product is selected, populate the custom field from product record to quote product record. With this you can achieve your requirement using word templates as well.

    Hope this clarifies your doubts.

    Hi Yadnyesh, Thx a lot for your help!

    About the workaround to achieve this using Word templates:

    To populate the custom field, you recomend use a Workflow or a custom solution?

    Thx again!

    Hi Paulo,

    This cannot be achieved using workflow. It will be custom solution either using JavaScript or plugin.

    Request you to tick verify answer if I resolved your question.
