CRM 2016 Outlook Plugin - Adjusted recurring appointments all appointments in CRM are deleted including notes & attachments

Hello,

I have a question about how recurring meetings are handled when using the Dynamics for Outlook plugin in a Dynamics CRM 2016 (On-Premise) environment. Based on my testing it appears that any time a recurring meeting series is adjusted all of the appointments within CRM are deleted instead of moved/updated. This unfortunately includes all notes and attachments that have been added to said appointment. My methods for testing this use-case were as follows:

  1. Created a recurring meeting series of 3 weekly appointments in Outlook
  2. Confirmed that 3 appointments were created in CRM and associated to the correct contact.
  3. Added a note to each appointment & made an update to the appointment description in some cases
  4. Moved the meeting series back 1 week in Outlook
  5. Reviewed the 3 appointments and noticed all updates/attachments made in CRM were no longer present. Even with Advanced Find I was unable to find my note in the system.

It appears that in moving a recurring meeting series the existing appointments and all related records are deleted and new appointments are created in it’s place. I was curious if this is a known bug or if there is a hotfix that can be applied to our environment to address this behavior. Unfortunately, in this scenario asking the users to make all modifications to meeting series IN CRM vs. in Outlook will not be an option.

Thank you, I look forward to your feedback.
