Incorrect Table Relationship in Dexterity - Item Master to Item Class Setup

I am attempting to add the Item Class Description to the SOP Long Invoice report. I have already successfully added the Item Master table linked to Sales Transactions Amounts Work. However when I add the Item Class Setup table to the report I get an error when printing the invoice.

The error message is Undefined Symbol 'F00364D02408User Categor'. Investigation of the table relationship defined for the Item Master and Item Class Setup shows it is defined incorrectly in Dexterity. The Item Master - User Category Values field is linked to the Item Class Setup - Item Class Code field.

Is there a way to modify this table relationship?

I am going to use VBA on the report as a temporary fix.

Is this on the Bug Fix List for the next version of Dynamics GP?

Once you have added Item Master table, why you need 'Item class Setup'?

When Class ID assigned to item, it rolls down all the reverent information to item, so as the user categories field also do.

So just adding Item Master and then getting values from that table should work.

But even If you will double click 'Item Master' table it will show you item class setup and you can select it from there, and their relationship already exist, so you don't need to create any new relation.

I am not getting any error , what else you have done?

btw I don't think dragging user category fields from item or class table will work, I  think you need to add a vba code.

Almas - I need to print the Item Class Description on the SOP Long Invoice report. That field is not in the Item Master table. The report was originally created in GP2010. We upgraded to GP 2015 last Fall and the report continued to work.

We imported a package file with several modified versions of the SOP Blank Invoice and SOP Blank Return reports and that is when the bug in the table relationship created in Dexterity was exposed. I think the bug was introduced when the Item Class Setup table was modified in GP 2013 or GP 2015.

I do have the VBA code solution working now. That was not a major problem since I already have a couple other reports with VBA code.

Jeff, I think the package you imported were cause some issues, I have just checked in 2015 and found the relationship fine with Item Master and Item class code table.

That is some good information to have Almas. I should have specified that I am on GP 2015 R2. Version 14.00.0817 - I am not sure when the IV40400 table was modified. There are tolerance fields in GP2015 R2 that are not in GP 2010. I think that is probably when the incorrect Dexterity join occurred. Possibly you are on a later version of GP and the join was fixed.

My Table Relationship Definition window on my original post does not match yours.

    Jeff,

My nephew, Nathan Lowran, works at Quicken Loans in Detroit. Does part of the organization use Dynamics GP?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Hi Leslie - That just goes to show it is a small world. We do use GP for GL, AP and a little AR. Many SmartConnect integrations from other systems.

I have a son that is a mortgage banker here at Quicken Loans. He is in the same region as Nathan.

It is great to get a note from you. I have read a great many of your contributions to the GP community over the years. They have been very helpful to me and I am sure that I have implemented some of your suggestions and code. Your blog at dynamicsconfessions.blogspot.com  is always at the top of my list for troubleshooting tips.

    Jeff
