Work Order Material Issue - System Message 6908

"Another process has already added the Detail item. The system will automatically Cancel your changes."

I am having issues determining how to correct this problem. I have a couple of work order that will not allow us to issue materials, giving the message above.  This trouble is similar to other posts I have found regarding PO's.

The cause of the error is that a duplicate LineRef is being created for new entries. For example, when I profile the transaction, I can see the system is trying to use LineRef '00235' for the WOMatlReq table, however, '00235' already exists for the previous item added to this work order.

Does anyone know how/where I can look to increment this value so that the system will use LineRef '000236' for a new item?

There are no custom triggers, and I have tried this in Standard mode in the past (along with just now as well). There is no change.

What I can't determine is where the systems look to determine the next 'LineRef'. In the case I am working on, I clearly see lineref 00166 and 00167 are used in the WOMatlReq table, however, adding new items to the BOM results in a query (found in a Trace) that tries to use lineref 00166 again.

If this query would only run with lineref 00168, then all would be well, but it insists on trying to use 00166, despite it being in use.

Do you have customizations in Work Order?  Have you tried to make a Work Order entry while in standard mode?  This may move you beyond the LineRef 00235.  If you still encounter an error when entering/issuing material for a Work Order in standard mode, than I would recommend looking for custom triggers.  Disable the custom triggers related to Work Order and try making a new entry.  Or you could try running a SQL trace and see if a trigger is creating the problem, you will need to add the object name and object type to a standard trace template to capture the information.
