Change look up displayed value

Hi,

when you add a field and change its data type to look up with account as the look up entity the value displayed is the account name.is there a way , i can change that

    you can not change it.  Primary field value will be displayed in Lookup.

    you can define primary field at the time of custom entity creation. so you can choose primary field in custom entity only.

    Hi Arci,

    As suggested above, it will display the primary key which you can't change it post creation. However you can still show other columns along with the name. This is managed by the Account Lookup View.

    Hi Jane,

    i suggest to proceed this way:

    1) Create a new attribute named "Account name" (new_accountname)

    2) Change label for standard account name and hide it

    3) By ondemand workflow or sdk, copy standard account name to new account name

    4) Create a workflow which copy the value of attribute you want to display as Lookup Label each time this attribute is modified (or record is created); run it on first time to update all values

    5) You are done!
