Accessing emails sent to a .onmicrosoft.com account

Posted on by 2,620

Hi,

I have a trial version of crm online running and was issued a username@orgname.onmicrosoft.com account.

How do you access emails sent to this email address? i.e If someone who is not a contact/account record sends an email to this address where is it viewable.

I dont have access to the Outlook client yet.

Thanks

    Hello,

This is not a very great solution. However, it will help you temporarily.

Solution: Enable Auto forward to the Users, so that any email sent to user@org.onmicrosoft.com will be sent to user@org.com.

I've tested it at my end and it's working.

For enabling auto-forward to any User -> https://support.office.com/en-us/article/forward-email-from-office-365-to-another-email-account-1ed4ee1e-74f8-4f53-a174-86b748ff6a0e

You need to ask your all Users to enable auto-forward and add the required email address.

If you face any issues, reply to it (or) you can write an email to vagu.prajeeth437@gmail.com. I can help you in configuring this one.

    Thanks,

    Prajeeth

    Hi Cezar Lozici,

Could you please let me know the process regarding - how can we get access/create a separate Exchange Online subscription to access outlook (mail inbox).

Is there any alternative to access outlook with accounts having email address ending up with 'onmicrosoft.com' (example email - user@worksso.onmicrosoft.com)

    Thanks,

    Prajeeth

    Hi

We're also facing the same problem. We're unable to access email inbox which has email address ended up with 'onmicrosoft.com' (our email address - user@worksso.onmicrosoft.com ).

Did the problem is resolved now? are you able to sign in to Outlook with that organization account which is in 'username@orgname.onmicrosoft.com ' format.

    Thanks,

    Prajeeth

    Hi Vgow,

AFAIK the username@orgname.onmicrosoft.com is JUST a Microsoft Online account. It does not have an associated email account to it(with the same name) from the start, you would need a separate Exchange Online subscription for that. You can easily test this by sending a Test email to that "email address" and see if you receive a Mailer Daemon notice. If you do than it's proof that there is no email account ,it is just a user login.

Thank you for using Microsoft Dynamics CRM Communities

You would be able to access the email via the same portal where you setup the users.. you can also try portal.microsoft.com
