ActivityPointerBase has dramatically decreased in size in the past 24-36 hours

Hello everyone,

In the past 36 hours the size of this table in Dataverse has gone down from 95Gb to 75GB.

We do not have any Bulk Delete jobs or system jobs that are running.

We are now experiencing significant changes in numbers for our most used activity -->Emails

It also does not seem to be any release wave that Microsoft is pushing right now.

Could it be that there were some corrupt indexes on this table and MSFT figured out a way to fix it and is pushing it to all customers?

Anyone else experienced this or has any idea why this might have happened?

Only the database portion was affected - no changes in File or Log.

Thanks

    Hi FXM32,

We are now experiencing significant changes in numbers for our most used activity -->Emails

So the ActivityPointerBase size is dropping because of the mass deletion of email records?

No one in the organisation manually deletes emails? Nor are there any jobs running?

Have you enabled 'Audit' feature on the email entity? If you enabled, you can check who delete emails in audit summary viewï¼›

Or I would suggest you create a support ticket for professional assistance following the below procedure.

    Hi,

sorry that was a typo.. we are NOT experiencing significant changes in numbers for our most used activity -->Emails

So it must be something else.

By the way we lost another 17GB or data in the past 20 hours as well

Could it be some indexing issue that is been fixed by MSFT?

    Thanks

    Hi FXM32,

have you double checked if there are no activated recurring bulk deletion jobs?

I've checked 8 of my instances and there was no change in the last days, so I don't think it was some fixed issue by MS.

    Hi Alex,

This was the first thing I have checked yesterday. I looked for any In Progress jobs and also I looked at counts and nothing indicated that there are or were Bulk Delete jobs doing this.

Thanks for looking into your environments.

I have found this recent document that MSFT posted about this and it explains what is going on

Thank you all for your help
