My salesmen are receiving an error when Qualifying a lead.  As admin I don't get the lead and the don't have any issues disqualifying a lead.

Please help.

    Hi,

This error is most likely caused either by custom JavaScript or a specific workflow that triggers on qualification of leads. What version of Dynamics CRM are you currently using? And did this error start occurring after installing a specific rollup or update?

Can I ask you to navigate to Settings -> Customizations -> Customize the System and click the "Processes" (Or "Workflows", depending on what version of Dynamics CRM you are running.). From there, look for a workflow With Lead as the Main Entity. (This may be incorrectly translated).

Double-clicking on this workflow should yield more information as to why this error is thrown.

If there is no related workflow, you should check whether there is any JavaScript triggering onSave of the Lead form.

If you can supply any details about a connected workflow or script, I would be happy to assist you in troubleshooting further.

    Regards,

    Rasmus

Are there any plugins which run on the lead.

What maybe happening is the plugin is updating a record/entity which the salesmen does not have access to.  This would explain why when your user does it (you are probably System Administrator) you do not have any security problems.

You could temporarily give the salesmen elevated security role to see if he can qualify a lead

    so

    check security roles

check for plugins or workflows running against the lead entity

Thanks guys, I'm going to check these scenarios and get back to you.  I appreciate it.

I realize this is a stale thread, but I recently resolved a similar issue and wanted to provide more info for anyone who comes across the thread.  I'll really just add to what Ben Hosking already said.

Ours was a security issue, but not directly related to a plugin or security roles around the qualify lead event.  Our error came from a ClickDimensions plugin that fires onCreate of Contact (which happens as a result of most lead qualifications).  The ClickDimensions  contact plugin tries to write to some of their own cdi_ entities, to relate the newly created contact to those records that are already related to the lead they were qualifying.

If the user who qualified the lead did not have all the necessary ClickDimensions roles on the custom entities, they would get the non-descript "there is no active transaction" error...when a helpful error could have said something like "missing privileges to write to such-and-such entity when creating a new contact".

So don't just look for privileges and plugins on the Lead entity...you must also analyze privileges and plugins on the entities that get created/edited as a result of lead qualification:

    • Accounts, contacts, and/or opportunities can be created.
    • Other 3rd-party entities may get edited.

    Kyle,

What Click Dimensions role did you have to provide for your users in order to fix this error. Or did you have to modify a specific role?

    Thanks,

    Meghan

The user already had ClickDimensions Core and we had to add ClickDimensions User.

We are getting the same issue; however it is happening periodically. Which is a bit of a head wreck and it is very difficult to pin down.

We also have ClickDimensions and user have CD Core and CD User.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

As of this Blog it is possibly an security role issue:
    http://missdynamicscrm.blogspot.de/2015/10/crm-error-there-is-no-active-transaction-crm-error-plugin.html

Try to add the update privileges for the following clickdimensions entities:

    • cdi_unsubscribe
    • cdi_surveyanswer
    • cdi_sentemail

    Background
The ContactUpdate plugin tries to populate the above entities with the newly created contact, if there are any assigned to the lead. The CD Core and CD User do not contain them by default.

    Hi Philipp,

    Thanks for that.

What privileges do you mean by the 'update privileges'?

Create, Write, Append and Append To?

    Thanks

    Donal

I resolved this issue by changing the user context for the CD Contact and Opportunity plugins to that of a system admin user.

To do this, I used the plugin registration tool msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg309580.aspx

Downside - I will need to redo everytime I update ClickDimensions.
