GP2013: Resetting the default chart of accounts for a business entity

My IT staff accidentally created a business entity using the default chart of accounts in GP2013.  Is there any way to delete the default accounts as well as the posting accounts and start from scratch without having to go through the company setup process again?

I think you need to manually delete all the Chart of Accounts(Cards-->Financial-->Accounts) & Posting Accounts(Tools-->Setup-->Posting-->Posting Accounts).

If you have more number of records, then create a macro file to delete the records without manual process.

    Hope this helps!!!

Thank you so much for responding back!  I followed that same path before for both accounts and posting accounts. The accounts I can delete but not the posting accounts (as they are grayed out and cannot be touched).  I would also figure the mass delete function would only apply to ordinary accounts (setup) not posting accounts.  Any guidance would be appreciated!

I think I'm all set!  An ordinary account that's active is a posting account by definition.  However, what has been confusing me is the posting accounts setup (Admin-> Setup-> Posting-> posting acct) ...if I'm not mistaken this is the posting account 'default'. The naming convention was confusing me as I thought there was an additional step when setting up an account.  I hope I'm defining this correctly within this post.

The posting account setup window is located in the path(Admin-> Setup-> Posting-> posting acct).

If you completed the deletion for both Chart of Accounts & Posing Accounts(Just select the accounts from posting setup window and click the delete button to clear the field. Then follow this steps for all the lines of accounts located in Postiong account setup window), then create a new chart of accounts and then assign it to the appropriate Posting operations in Posting Account Setup window.

    Hope this helps!!!

I know this is not the 'right' way to approach this problem, but I would clear the SY01100 Posting Account Master to kill all of the company-level posting accounts. One more place you might want to look is the Payroll Posting Accounts. I don't know if they are also set with the default COA (I doubt they are), but it doesn't hurt to look. Those accounts are in UPR40500.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Another way to achieve what Ms. Leslie has mentioned above is to consider the following SQL script which brings back all the posting accounts including the ones included on the setup level

Which are the Posting Accounts in my GP Company ! - SQL Script
