How to export all documents (Word, Excel, PDF and other documents) and their related records from Dynamics 365?

I'm currently working on migrating data from Microsoft Dynamics to Salesforce. However, we also need to migrate the documents and files associated with the Dynamics records. Is there a step-by-step guide or documentation explaining how to perform this process?

Not sure if there are any guides, but I would recommend looking at Power Automate and SharePoint to plan for the migration.

    • Create a SharePoint Library to act as a repository for the files during the migration
    • Use Power Automate to run a flow against the Annotation table and extract any with documents.
      • I would use the flow to also create folders for each record/annotation GUID before storing the document. This will allow you to use this information when mapping or migrating to SalesForce and maintain all necessary details and links
      • Depending on volume, Power Automate may need to be replaced with a more formal integration tool

The above is presuming all of your documents are stored in notes (annotations). You will also want to be aware of any documents in (1) SharePoint through the native integration or (2) in email activities or custom fields across the system.

The answer depends on which D365 product you're using. D365 isn't a single product; it's a brand of several distinct products (such as Finance and Operations or Business Central) with different capabilities.
