Upgrade extension in cloud 365BC

Hi Exerts,

In cloud 365BC, when we want to upgrade extension to the latest version, we have to uninstall the previous version first, otherwise it will return error "extension is already installed.".

Is there any way to upgrade extension directly without uninstall the previous version extension? For example, Adding update version script in the extension?

I hope you are talking about Per Tenant Customizations.

if yes then we can increase the version list in app.json and upload app thru extension management page to upgrade to next version.

Hi Mohana,

No. For example, we install extension A for version 1 in cloud 365BC. Now there is new version for extension A available in the extension marketplace, If we want to upgrade the extension, we have to uninstall extension A first then Install the latest one.

Do you have any idea for how to upgrade the extension without uninstall the previous version extension?

Hi Denny,

Did you check the above link? hare are few more.

I think when you get the new version of extension from partner. & You have the setup and other data already against that extension.

It is the responsibility of the partner to migrate the setup data if the version change has the data delete effect.

in Al project you need to look at the SchemaUpdateMode as well :)

Ok, now I got it. we do have apps in AppSource and Microsoft suggests same thing once validations are completed that customers needs to uninstall older version and install again from AppSource to get new version so I think this is the process for now to install latest versions of AppSource Apps.

Thank you for your provide information.I think our problem is whether we can upgrade the extension without uninstall the previous version extension, and we don't need to migrate data.

For example, we install extension A for version 1 in cloud 365BC. Now there is new version for extension A available in the extension marketplace, now If we want to upgrade the extension, we have to uninstall extension A first then Install the latest one.
