There are a number of settings available around synchronization that you could set to help this situations out.  For outlook 2013 you can go to File->CRM and click on Set Personal Options.  Here you can go to the Synchronization tab.  One way to alleviate the  initial synchronization is to automatically synchronize every so many minutes.  Or add filters to which CRM items should be synchronized.

    Hi Haks,

I have worked with the Outlook plugin for CRM since Jan 2012. While it is a great tool and almost necessity for sales individuals we found it was very cumbersome and slowed outlook down. I did significant research and spent time on the phone with Microsoft support and there was no complete solution. The best is to follow the instructions from Mickas about changing your personal options to not sync every little thing. I would also add to avoid offline. If you are in offline mode the load time for CRM increases because all the data has to sync.

Eventually for us the time hit on Outlook was worth the increased productivity for tracking emails and synching tasks and calendar items. Sorry there is not a solution for now, but wanted you to know your not crazy.

    Haks,

I am sure it must be taking a little longer than 10 minutes because the least synchronization time is 15 minutes and is set by default.
If you would like to synchronize the data faster than that, only option is to click on "Synchronize with CRM manually".
