Hello,

I'm trying to figure out what the best way to bring in FA details into BC from GP. I'm working with SQL, so GL30000/GL20000 and FA00902 are going to be essential. I need help figuring out how to load this data into BC What's the best way to go about this? Also, how do I ensure they get posted to GL entries are well?

What are some prerequisites for this? Any setups I need to do in BC?

I'm looking forward to your answers and would like to thank you in advance!!

    Hi,

For moving your GP Fixed Asset data to BC following are some important steps to follow.

1 - Learn about Fixed asset module from Microsoft Learn here - Manage fixed assets - Business Central | Microsoft Learn Kindly follow all the links to understand the Fixed Asset card, Depreciation Book, FA Depreciation Book, FA Posting group and FA G/L Journal concepts.

2 - Use Configuration package to export excel templates and use it to import Fixed asset and FA Depereciation data. - Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central: How to Export and Import Data (Using Configuration Packages) | Dynamics 365 Lab

3 - Make sure your FA Posting groups are configured properly such that all the type of transactions reflects in the correct G/L Account.

4 - You need to export or prepare data from GP for transactions (Acquisition, Depreciation, disposal etc.) The data should be in the format required by BC to be filled in the FA G/L journal. For this again you can use Configuration package or Edit in Excel function to add the opening balance or data into the FA G/L Journal. Once done upload the opening balances and do a preview posting to verify the effect and post it.

Please note that details steps may change based on the type of data you are loading and your understanding of Business Central.

    Hi,

You can migrate Fixed Assets (FA) from Dynamics GP to Business Central using Configuration Packages and standard FA setup.
    Steps & Prerequisites
    1. Set Up FA in Business Central
      • Define FA Posting Groups, Depreciation Books, and FA Classes/Subclasses.
      • Set Up Fixed Assets
    2. Export Data from GP
    3. Prepare Data for Import
      • Map GP fields to BC fields:
        • FA No., Description, Acquisition Cost, Depreciation Method, Book Value, etc.
    4. Use Configuration Packages
      • Import data into tables:
        • 5600 Fixed Asset, 5612 FA Depreciation Book, 5621 FA Ledger Entry (if bringing history).
      • Use Configuration Packages
Fixed Assets Setup and Management Posting and Opening Balances Configuration Packages

    Hi,
I think you should go with Cofiguration packages in BC, first you need to create the Template for Fixed Asset in BC and export this template then in this template file you need to load all your data according to template and load back with Impot in Config. Packag.

    Thanks
