MFG pick document prefix changed from MPK to MK on January 1st 2018. How did this happen and how can I prevent this from happening again?

I have the same question (0)There's probably two manners that this could occur.
1.This could have occurred is if an end user manually changed in the Setup Window. Tools > Setup > Manufacturing > System Defaults > Manufacturing Orders - obviously GP security should be used to prevent end users from changing anything in this setup screen.
2. If your end users are using the Manufacturing Component Transaction Entry Screen (to manually allocate or issue materials) an end user could have inadvertently changed the document number (editable field) - I think GP will then consider that changed document number to be last number used and will re-write to the setup screen.
You could make the Pick Document Number field non editable via VBA Modifier or Field Level Security.
