Assign Case to another business unit User

Hi,

I'm trying to assign Cases between business units and got permission issues exception.

What I do is to change the Owner to the default business unit team.

The error message complains about the lack of permission of the team, which is Business Unit, if I change it to Organization it works, but of course I do not want to do this.

I've tried to do it in JavaScript and background/real-time workflows.

OwnerIdType:9, OwnerData: teamType=0, privilegeCount=18 and CallingUser:bf2eb1f4-830e-e911-a818-000d3ab24a78, CallerBusinessId:6aece930-0d18-e911-a81b-000d3ab2d24c PrincipalData: roleCount=2, privilegeCount=351, accessMode=0. ObjectTypeCode:112, ObjectBusinessUnitId:e2e1e211-0d18-e911-a81b-000d3ab2d24c, AccessRights: ReadAccess. Computed rightsToCheck=ReadAccess,

    Hi..

This is how it is suppose to work.

When you have permission to view / read only for business unit, then CRM will throw error.

check this article for more details

    docs.microsoft.com/.../how-role-based-security-control-access-entities

Local: This access level gives a user access to records in the user's business unit.

Users who have Local access automatically have Basic access, also.

Because this access level gives access to information throughout the business unit, it should be restricted to match the organization's data security plan. This level of access is usually reserved for managers with authority over the business unit.

The application refers to this access level as Business Unit.

    Hi, thanks for your reply!

forgot o mention that when I do the change with the CRM Admin account it doesn't fail,

It only fails when I do it with a user with lower permissions.

CRM Admin always has organization level permissions, thats why not failing..

You can change user permissions to Read organization level.  in case your business permits. otherwise need to write plugin to assign cases and run that plugin under CRM admin context.

Mahadeo has the right of it.  You're essentially saying "I want to allow my users to assign Cases outside of the Business Unit without being allowed to assign Cases outside of the Business Unit".  You can see the contradiction.

Hi, I understand, but should I not be allowed to do it with a real-time workflow executed as the owner of the workflow? when the changes are done by the CRM admin account, it works.

    Hi,

if you do not want to change the security role structure. The best is you done via workflow, use Admin to run it.

Eg: You can create a field (lookup to user),  and create a real time workflow and use Admin to run it ( use workflow owner).

    Hi,

can you check is there any child entity that associate to this record and the relationship behaviour is cascade all or parental.

Make sure the new owner has appropriate access to those entity too

    Hi,

the issue is with the Case permissions, tested with another user with Organization level access to Cases and the real-time workflow did run fine.
