Partner/training/customization frustration

Coming from an ACT background, I understand the "partner" functionality, but the one that was assigned to us did not help, he served to confuse us even more.

So, we have this system we're paying for and we're trying to make it conform to our business - with the lack of educational and how-to information on the website - we're totally frustrated and about to push the system to the side.

We have a construction business - so our "accounts" are actually individual homeowners - our customers are never companies.  We network and use companies as our vendors - but we do not have them as our customers.

We need help in setting up our system to be homeowner focused and geared to our business with the appropriate workflows.  Where can we go to get help?  And like everyone else in this economy - it needs to provide a big ROI - our business partner did not do that and now I'm doubting the decision I made to go with CRM...

    Hi Robin,

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences.  Not all dynamics crm partners are created equal :-)  but there are many very good partners.  The 3 big decision points we always mention to prospects are:

--Does the partner truly focus on only dynamics crm implementations and are very good at it OR  do they do a bit of everything and anything  ?

--Does the partner have vertical experience?  If you are in the construction business, has the partner done other construction related crm solutions ?

--What else does the partner bring to the table?  Do they have a process they always follow?  Do they start with an out of the box crm system and charge you for everything OR do they bring proprietary components as part of the implementation with little or no additional costs?

As for training - there are hand full of very useful sites.  In additional, Microsoft customer source has a number of online training classes.  We wrote a blog related to dynamics crm training:
