How aggressive can I get with Rescheduling Period?

In my opinion, the rescheduling aspect of Business Central is a little silly. I can't think of any reasons that a Planner or Buyer would want to completely cancel and make an order new when the only think that changed is the date.

I noticed in a different thread in this forum that someone had a months-long rescheduling period, several times larger than the lot accumulation period. Can anyone give me any insight into their experiences with this? I am honestly thinking of making it 1Y, but not sure if I'm missing something obvious.

What re-ordering policies are you using?

Assuming you are using Lot-for-Lot as this is the only policy with a rescheduling period, I would recommend change the rescheduling period.

Also the planning worksheet is making suggestions for the planner to take a decision on, if they don't want to make an order date change they can ignore it.

The main reason for the rescheduling period is to avoid having a PO open for a long time.

For example, I have demand in January, which triggered a PO.  That demand gets pushed off until October.  I would need to communicate to my Vendor that I don't want the product shipped until September.  Most people would cancel the PO and re-issue a new PO closer to October.  This avoids having an old PO sitting in the system with nothing happening.  It also puts a lot of trust in your Vendor to remember to ship your product closer to October without getting another reminder.

As long as you are okay with the above, there is no issue with having long rescheduling periods.
