Configuration Template defaults not applied to configuration package import

I am attempting to bulk upload and modify items. All of our items have the same posting groups and I want these fields to be supplied from a template (or just not manually set).

I created a configuration template that defines default values for various posting group fields in the item card. I added this configuration template to my configuration package for uploading items. When I import items, the default values from the configuration template are not present.

How can I apply default values to configuration package imports?

Thank you in advance for the help.

I have all fields in the configuration template marked as mandatory. I tried with and without this set, no difference.

Additionally, I cannot set the General Product Posting Group via excel import using configuration packages. I assume this is because this field is an entry in a table and not just a value. It shows as type "code20" on the excel document.

You mentioned you are attempting to modify existing Items.  I'm not sure if the Data Template is used when modifying existing records.  I haven't tested that, but that would be my thought.  I use the Data Templates when importing new Items, so it does work when the Items don't exist.  My other thought was your "Inv. Posting Group ID", as I try to avoid using ID fields in templates and imports and let the system assign that automatically upon validation.

Since you're only modifying a handful of fields, I would export the data with those fields, add your Posting Group Codes in Excel, save, and then import it back into BC.

Hi, if you want to apply default values in batches, you can also try the following method.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
