Is "Commerce Scale Unit - Self-Hosted" effective in an architecture that uses 3rd-party e-commerce?

Our client is considering a data integration involving a "3rd-party e-commerce platform, D365 headless commerce, and F&SC, Commerce HQ".
I know the e-Commerce Tier is typically recommended for headless commerce in this kind of setup.

However, the main problem is our client's extremely high transaction volume, which would make the licensing costs too expensive to implement the system.
We've discovered that with the "Commerce Scale Unit - Self-Hosted" license, it might be possible to use it with just the minimum user license purchase requirement (as stated in the license guide).
Given this specific configuration (3rd-party e-commerce + D365 headless commerce + F&SC, Commerce HQ), can we actually use "Commerce Scale Unit - Self-Hosted?"

Also, has anyone else faced a similar challenge?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I may be mistaken, but generally, the self-hosted commerce scale unit is primarily used for in-store scenarios, not for e-commerce. The preferred and most effective way to integrate any e-commerce platform with Dynamics 365 using headless commerce is to utilize the cloud commerce scale unit. This option is scalable based on transaction load and volume, and it offers high availability.

If your integration requires bidirectional real-time communication, it is best to choose the cloud scale unit for optimal performance.

    Thank you for your reply.

In this case, I understand that if we want to perform well using CSU, an e-Commerce Tier contract is required.
