Database Storage

Hi,

This is a general question, but does anyone have any information on how much database space a Model Driven App generally uses? I need to clear up space urgently. We have a number of apps in our Dev and Sandbox sites that we rarely use and only for testing purposes. I have gone through the MS article about clearing up DB space already and that hasn't made any noticeable difference. I also contacted Microsoft who ran some scripts to free up space in the webresource table.

The cost of purchasing extra DB capacity is extortionate!

Thanks as always,

Ted

Hey, these two orgs have almost nothing in them and are 'model driven apps' with their own Databases, so it can give you an idea.  If its a shared DB then itll drop significantly.

    Hey Ted.

There's this nice post from a Support Engineer from Microsoft on how to reduce ActivityPointerBase: community.dynamics.com/.../customer-guide-how-to-reduce-activitypointerbase

Also, if you already have a support case open with Microsoft, you should have communications or an action plan on how to proceed to reduce this.

Thanks Henry. The Activitypointerbase table seems to be taking up over 5GB. I have asked Microsoft and waiting on a response.

    Hello Ted,

I don't think believe model-driven apps consume much space, as all they do is reference existing components (entities, forms views, charts, etc.)
You can identify the tables that consume the most storage in the Power Platform Admin Center:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/capacity-storage#environment-capacity-analytics
