Hi,

Can we know if is possible to restore a uploaded bacpac file to a SaaS Sandbox environment?

We would like to keep a copy of .bacpac file each month and then use that to restore to SaaS sandbox for the month that we may need to perform some audit check etc.

Appreciate advise from all the BC expert.

I have the same question (0)

if we had discontinued the subscription of a BC tenant, and later re-subscribe to a new BC tenant, is it possible to use the uploaded .bacpac saved from the previous tenant to the new BC tenant? With assumption that both version are still the same.

Creation of the .bacpac file is a manual process.  You could simply create the Sandbox from a copy of the Production environment (or a restore point of the Production Environment).  You do have a limit (3) on the number of sandboxes you have, and each one counts against your 80GB data limit on the tenant.  You would want to be removing old Sandboxes prior to adding the next month to help keep your data usage down.

You can still create the .bacpac file if it is part of your business plan, but if your plan is to restore it as a Sandbox you might as well skip the .bacpac file.

In regards to your second question on restoring the .bacpac after cancelling and restarting the service, I don't know how useful that would be.  The data would be old.  The extensions can be added to the new environment very quickly.  I'm not sure it would make sense to use this approach.  Perhaps if the business didn't process any transactions during the disconnected period.  You would have to open a support request to Microsoft to see if they would restore the .bacpac file to your tenant.

    Hi, Some information from Microsoft.

And if it is only for audit check, is it possible to restore to local at regular intervals?

In addition, Business Central actually already includes the Restore feature, but it cannot use local bacpac files.
