Connecting to the back end data

Hi everyone,

We are wanting to do some analytics based on Dynamics data (And data from other sources)

I have access to the front end via

And we have Azure so the hope is to pull in the data we need using Data Factory.
The big question is, I think the database is a SQL database but how can we connect to this and get out the data we need for our reporting?
Any help on the next step with this would be great
Thanks in advance
Debbie

RE: Connecting to the back end data

'You need to be in D365/Model Driven App' How do I get to this and how do I know they are even using a model driven app?  is it standard that they are all model driven apps and I just need to click on the specific one I need.

When and if I do get to the Instance Web API what is the next step?

Im definitely not a sys admin so i will give them that info and clearly I dont have all the information from the people who want this setting up. I need to ask them which app i should be using.

    Thanks

Sorry for not making it clear - you need to be in D365/Model Driven App (and be a sys admin) where you'd go to settings cog.

The url you have (home.dynamics.com) is just a landing page for all dynamics apps. You need to click on one of the apps

RE: Connecting to the back end data

I have got in but there and My Linked Service seems OK but When I create a Common data Service Data set its not finding anything that makes any sense and everything is empty

    I have the following entities

    ACIViewMapper

    AIBuilderDataset

    AIBuilderDataset File

    AI Builder Dataset record

    AI Builder Datasets container

    AI Builder File

    AI Builder File Attached Data

Im very confused. Everything is empty. I dont understand what these entities are and I cant find any data in our CRM system to use.

Where do I go from here?

This hasn't worked either. In the settings cog all I have is Change your language, Change your password and Update contact preferences.  No advanced Settings

RE: Connecting to the back end data

    Hello Debbie,

Please check this article about the connector: docs.microsoft.com/.../connector-dynamics-crm-office-365

Then you can create the Data Factory and use Copy Data Tool: docs.microsoft.com/.../quickstart-create-data-factory-copy-data-tool

Please refer also to this post, there is an answer that describes how to perform all the steps: community.dynamics.com/.../using-data-factory-to-pull-data-from-dynamics

    Hope this helps you.

Please mark the answer as verified if helpful. That will help others in future.

In d365, go to Settings cog/icon -> Advanced Settings -> Customizations -> Developer Resources -> Instance Web API - > Service Root URL
