How to bulk relate entities like web roles (portal) and connections to contacts

After all our contacts have been imported to Dynamics CRM, I'd like to relate them to one or more portal web roles. And I also want to connect all the contacts to their own account with a proper role (through connections).

I tried doing this with a workflow (also tried several workflow utilities), but somewhere I'm missing the point.

What is the best way to solve this problem?
