Custom Help Panes - Still in Public Preview?

I've started using the custom Help Panes and I'm running into a few bugs which got me wondering... Is this feature still in Public Preview? I found this Microsoft blog post from November of 2019 and this Microsoft video from January of 2020 - both announcing Help Panes as public preview. How can I figure out if/when this feature came out of public preview and went to GA?

Thanks for the reply Leah! I had found that page as well but that page hasn't been updated since October of 2020. I guess what I am trying to find is information from Microsoft regarding when the Help Panes feature will be moved out of Public Preview status and be officially released. In other words, is there a site like the Microsoft 365 Roadmap site for Dynamics 365?

Hi Ron，

Unfortunately, I have just found the only one Microsoft document for custom help panes function.

Nor is there any information on what state this feature is in, Public Preview or General availability?

Hi Ron,

Custom Help Panels are available in online D365 version. I have configured them for one of our clients. There are a few features within it that are currently not available. I also couldn't find much documentation on this though. Can you please share a bit of details on what is your requirement?

Yes. I'm already using the custom help panes. For the most part, they work as defined in the documentation but there is a bug that I'm running into. The "Couch Marks" and "Balloons" defined at the top of the help pane (help page) work just fine, but the ones that are defined further down the page stop working after you navigate to another entity and back again. The pphml code is still there and correct, but they just no longer work.

Yes this seems to be an issue. If you scroll down and then click on the balloon text, it will start showing again. Looks like there are a few bugs in this feature right now.

I have also observed similar issue when I add the couch marks or balloons to a business process flow.

Also, as per my experience, if you add too many sections in the help panel, the form load becomes really slow.
