Smartlist Error After Upgrade to GP 2018

My client has been testing an upgrade from GP2015 to GP2018, and are running into issues trying to access Smartlists. If they attempt to open the smart list menu they get "An unhandled script exception". Index 0 of local array is out of range in script ASI_initialize_explorer_tree". Screen shot is below.

Any thoughts as to how to remedy. I found a couple of possible solutions online but all seem to point to older versions of GP and do not quite match up with GP 2018

I have also run into issues with this when I haven't made certain to get all the new security objects across versions and/or new SmartLists (like Purchase Requisitions).
