Hi Guys,

I am trying to add a Custom Domain name on my Dynamics CRM 365 Portals using Portal Add-on Admin.

I have added SSL certificate successfully but i am struggling to setup a CNAME on my Domain Providers (GoDaddy) as described on Portal Setup page "We could not find the DNS record for portal.____.com that points to: ____.microsoftcrmportals.com. To add a custom domain name, create a CNAME resource record with your domain provider that points your domain to: ____.microsoftcrmportals.com"

can you please help me how can i setup a CNAME record on Godaddy which point to Dynamics CRM Base portal domain. I have attached image from Portal configuration and from Godaddy.

Many thanks

We could not find the DNS record for portal.referrals2sales.com that points to: referrals2sales.microsoftcrmportals.com. To add a custom domain name, create a CNAME resource record with your domain provider that points your domain to: referrals2sales.microsoftcrmportals.com

RE: Configure Custom Domain to CRM Portals (Godaddy Domain)

I configure a custom domain to CRM Portals using a GoDaddy domain and create a CNAME record in the DNS Management page. Now I update the Portal Hostname in CRM Portal settings and wait for DNS changes to propagate (up to 24 hours).

Sure, I can guide you through the steps for setting up a CNAME record on GoDaddy to point to Dynamics CRM Base portal domain. Here are the steps you can follow:

Step 1: Log in to your GoDaddy account and navigate to the DNS Management page for the domain like (https://techoffersbd.com/ ) or which you want to edit.

Step 2: Locate the section for creating a new CNAME record. This section may be labeled "DNS Zone File," "Manage DNS," or "DNS Records," depending on the GoDaddy interface you are using.

Step 3: In the CNAME section, create a new record with the following details:

Host: This should be the subdomain that you want to use for your Dynamics CRM Base portal. For example, if you want your portal to be accessible at "crm.yourdomain.com", then "crm" is your host.

Points to: This should be the Base portal domain provided by Dynamics CRM. In your image, this is "portalbase.crm.dynamics.com."

Step 4: Save the CNAME record by clicking "Save" or "Add" (depending on the GoDaddy interface you are using).

Once the record has been saved, it may take up to 24 hours for the changes to propagate and the CNAME to be fully functional.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions or if you need additional assistance.

RE: Configure Custom Domain to CRM Portals (Godaddy Domain)

Finally, my worries about setting a domain have come to an end after reading this article. Most of the students like to get thesis help online at a cheap price. Nobody was able to help me when I was facing a lot of errors while setting a domain for my personal website. Finally this article has eased all my problems so thank you so much for publishing it here on this website.

RE: Configure Custom Domain to CRM Portals (Godaddy Domain)

    Hi Dev Dex,

I was able to resolve this by using DigiCertUtil tool to generate a CSR and then use that to get my SSL cert from go daddy.  As you stated the cert will be in .crt format and again I was able to use the DigiCertUtil to convert to pfx format.

    Thanks

RE: Configure Custom Domain to CRM Portals (Godaddy Domain)

    Hi SP211,

When you will purchase the SSL certificate from godaddy (if you have bought domain from godaddy already), they will issue SSL certificate for your domain so you don't need CSR, if they don't issue you a certificate then you can go to domain section > SSL or Site Security and you should be able to see CSR.

once you got the certificate that will be in .crt format. you have to convert that to .pfx format (one Openssl command would do the trick) then you should be able to apply that SSL on your custom domain.

let me know if you need more help.

    thanks

    Hi Dev Dex,

We are looking to add a custom domain to a portal site and before i purchase the domain and SSL cert (from godaddy) i was wondering how you generate the CSR for the SSL cert.  Does this need to be requested from MS?

    Thanks in advance

Try using a site like DNSWatch.info to independently validate your DNS entries.  It could also be a propagation/caching issue so it might just take some time.
