According to Microsoft licensing guide they write there are limitations to what a Device License can be used for, but not further details to be found on what the limitations are compared with a full user. Does anyone have more details on this?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

As per documentation there are two limitations for Device User:

    1) Cannot setup and run Job Queues

    2) Cannot be the first user to login to Business Central.

Thank you. No more limitations apart from the ones you listed?

    In Microsoft documentation I read:

'Business Central Device licenses provide limited access to a subset of Business Central capabilities'

'Device licenses are limited, with only a subset of BC capabilities for shop floor functions, eCommerce and store management, or warehousing functions.'

So reffering to this - those two limitations (with job queque and first config) are all?

    Thank you again.

I read this two limitations. Based on your experience - is this true and there are no more limits?

Hi, just to add some basic info and a discussion about Device License, hope this helps.

Device license: Device licensing, an alternative to user licensing, enables any number of users to access a product through a single licensed device, without the need for separate user licenses. Only the user or the device requires a license, not both. You may mix user and device licenses. Device licenses may be referenced in some documents or diagrams as device subscription license (SL) and indicated on diagrams with

You cannot use the same device license across multiple devices, a device license must be linked to one device. There are no limitations on the number of users that can access the application via a device license.
