Fast Food restaurant using RMS

Hi all,

I have been tasked with finding a suitable POS solution for a fast food restaurant.  I currently have Dynamics RMS running 13 retail shops and 2 inventory warehouses all of which report to a HQ server.  I have licensing for an additional retail shop and have most of the equipment (cash drawers, receipt printers, magnetic stripe readers, PC's, and monitors(both touch screen and regular.)  What I envision is having 2 POS to enter customer orders.  I'd also like to have a receipt printer and/or a touchscreen in the kitchen to get the orders to the back to be filled.  I've looked at Retail Hero's catalog view add on which I believe would work for this scenario but was unsure about how the kitchen backend could be integrated.

Another point is that if I used the store licenses I have for this restaurant I don't know if it would be a good idea to have it poll data back to the HQ server where my retail shops report as I see the potential for a someone running the wrong worksheet on one or the other which could possibly be problematic.  Therefore I was thinking that this could be treated as a stand alone operation.

Any ideas or opinions would be greaty appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time,

Chris

I see a lot of pain points here.  First, the Retail Hero add-on may work fine, but has limitations.  You can't add modifiers very easily, like you can with a true restaurant software.  Also makes it harder to do combos, especially with substitutions, (onion rings for french fries for an extra 50 cent upcharge, for example).  And there are no true kitchen printers.

I have clients using RMS in mixed use environments (such as a health food store with a limited menu cafe or a smoothie bar), and it makes sense in certain circumstances.  As long as you recognize what you can and can't do.  If you allow tips, and have integrated credit cards, you can't go back to add the tip.  That's another potential problem.

It's also a bad idea to use HQ, or at least it can be a pain.  One simple example: every time you run a Worksheet 250 to add items to the retail stores, you have to be sure to uncheck the fast food stores, or they'll have the unwanted items. You could also easily inadvertently send the fast food inventory to the other stores.  Won't cause a problem; just saying.

I hope you found an answer, but I just came across this thread - there are quick-serve and full Restaurant modules for RMS.

How do you do delviery or lookup driving directions or hold an order with a payment?  We have a specialized pizza software and these questions are big.  Also how do you track your drivers and see which orders are currently being delivered.
