MANAGEMENT REPORTER NOT ACCEPTING AD LOGIN AND PASSWORD

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

After installing GP20013 and Management Reporter on a Windows 10 replacement computer for a users who previously was able to login to Management Reporter with Windows AD authentication I opened GP2013 and went to Reports - Financial - Management Report and when prompted to enter a username and password I discovered that MR was no longer allowing access to company with AD login.  In MR Security I selected the company and in the login box that appeared when I chose to set it as the 'default' Company  I noticed the box next to 'Use Windows Authentication' was unchecked and when I enter the user's AD account login it fails and returns the following error:

Unable to connect to the 'mycompanyname' company.

The Connection to the Microsoft Dynamics GP failed. Contact your system administrator

------------------------------------------------------------

When I highlight the company and click 'set as default' while logged in as AD user with administrator permission in Management Reporter security  I get this error when attempting to access the company without entering any credentials:

Unable to connect to the 'mycompanyname' company.

Windows Authentication is not supported for Microsoft Dynamics GP

What do I need to do to get the Windows Authentication working again.  I couldn't find any place to make the switch from GP to Windows Authentication and desperately need to get these users to be able to access to Management Reporter again.  If someone could give me a clue to what I need to do or at least point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for you help.

Matt,   Thanks,  We did restart the MR Services several times.  This did not fix the issue with generating reports.  Microsoft suggested re-importing the company which we too did.  This did not fix the issue with generating reports either.  Still getting same error.

Just throwing this out there but there's been times where I've see the "Bad or missing data" message and restarting the MR services would fix that issue.

Just to clarify:    We are now able to login to GP and Management Reporter, but we cannot generate reports.

Here is the errors we are seeing.   PEr suggestion from Microsoft, we did a re-import of the COmpany from Dynamics GP, but that did not correct this issue.

in screenshots the first set are using the GP login credentials with incorrect password.   As you can see it would have worked if correct password was entered.

Matt,   Thank you.      But, Prior to yesterday the users did not have issues logging in using windows authentication.    We are struggling in how to set  GreatPlains  to use windows authentication.

    Any suggestions?

It sounds like it's just failing on the authentication to the database, not security to MR.  MR uses dual authentication.  First to the application using windows authentication but then if they are using Report Designer, it's going to check whether they have access to the GP database as well.  I'd have the user try entering their GP credentials.
