Update Lookup field

Hi everybody

I try to explain my scenario. We upload records for two entities, A y B, from two different resources. These entities are related with a contact. But this resources use different name for the same contact. We decide to use the email contact like "link" (use the same contact) to contact. But I don't know how update the contact lookup field from entity A o B with the email contact.

I try to create a new entity email-contact relationship. This entity has two fields, the primary fields (email contact) and lookup field for contact related.

I create a new lookup field for email-contact relationship in entity A ( for example) and then I update this field with the text( email contact in entity A). But I can't.

Any ideas.

In short, I need to update a lookup contact field through email contact address.

    RE: Update Lookup field

    Hi,

Not sure if I understand your question, Do you want to update contact lookup on Entity A and B based on their email address ??, if yes you can export record of these entities your existing contact, entity a and entity b. then you can do vlookup in entity a and b based on the contact email address and can populate this lookup in both of these files (A and B). Import A and B back to CRM. (it may be little pain to get this done with excel but you can accomplish this way, if my understanding is correct)

    Thanks

    RE: Update Lookup field

    Hi Jose,

I really think you should be looking at Connections for what you are trying to do here and create a custom connection between the entities.  You can define the relationship type and this way you can have a situation where you may have 2,3,4 etc. contacts that are all the same and relate them.  Is this what you were looking for?

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
