Is there an easy way to find out which entity a field in D365 belongs to?

I struggle to find out which entity to use for different fields in D365 and is missing an easy way to find this out.

For example:

The default order type under default order settings. This is not included in the default order settings entity. How do i find the right entity for this field?

    Hi Halvard,

If you have access to a development environment, you can open Visual Studio. Then search for the table, expand the fields and select the field. Right click the field and choose: Find references.

In the result grid, find all rows starting with: 'dynamics://DataEntityView/' and ending with '?DataField'. Then you will get the technical name of the data entity.

If there is no result, there might be no field mapped on an entity.

Using dev system is the only and easiest way. You just need to ask help from a developer.

    Hi Halvard,

If you don't have access to VS, then it would be very difficult. One option is to look at metadata but that's so much difficult than using Visual Studio. In addition, the names may not be same between what's you see on screen vs. how data entity exposes it.

one of the easiest way, you take a sample item, export data through the data entity and see the field in which it was exported
