While navigating through CRM2013 in IE, select users (10% of population) are getting the following error message:

Unhandled Exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[[Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.OrganizationServiceFault, Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35]]: System.Xml.XmlException: Microsoft Dynamics CRM has experienced an error. They can proceed after clicking through the error message.  However, IE starts eating away at resources.

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for using Microsoft Dynamics CRM Communities. I would like to ask you a few questions, which will help us provide you further suggestions going forward.

    - What is the exact Version of CRM2013 you are using - ( Onpremise UR/ Online ) ?

    - What is the client OS and browser Version which the users are using when the error occurs? Are they different as the ones from the users who are not experiencing the issue?

    - When you compare the Security roles of the affected users with the rest of the users, do you see a pattern?

    - Are you able to reproduce the issue on demand with the particular users? If so, can you please provide us a a step-by-step description of the repro scenario?

    Thank you in advance.

    Nina,

    Answers below:

    >>>> Windows 7, IE 9

Are they different as the ones from the users who are not experiencing the issue?

    >>> same setup and configuration as other users (without errors)

    - When you compare the Security roles of the affected users with the rest of the users, do you see a pattern?

    >>> - No difference in security roles.   That is same settings for issue and non-issue

    - Are you able to reproduce the issue on demand with the particular users? If so, can you please provide us a a step-by-step description of the repro scenario?

    >>>>

    1. End users login into CRM (we run https) through their day

    2. Some times, when they either open a specific opportunity record OR when they navigate to the document navigation while viewing a specific opportunity. the error will appear

    3. if viewing an opportunity, IE "hands" and they have to restart browser

3b. if it was navigating to the document section (i.e. embedded sharepoint frame) ... the frame won't appear but they CRM navigation, etc. remains.  IE "hands" and they have to restart browser

    4. When they re-open and navigate back to either scenario ... problems continue ... unless they close all their IE sessions (CRM or otherwise)

    Hi Michael,

many thanks for your response. To understand if the problem is client or user related, can you please try to reproduce the issue with an affected user account on a not affected client machine and the opposite.

If the issue proves to be client machine related, could you please clean the IE cache and temp files and reset settings on one of the affected machines following the below steps and monitor the issue again for one-two days.

    1. Internet Options > Browser History > Delete > select all options here beside the Preserver Favorites website data > Delete

    2. Internet Options > Browser History > Settings > View Files > Select all the filed > delete selected files

    3. Internet Options > Browser History > Settings > View Objects > Select all the filed > delete selected files

    4. Internet Options > Advanced > Reset Advanced Settings > Apply

    5. Internet Options > Advanced > Reset...> Select "Delete Personal Settings" > Reset > Close

    6. Open the Windows Explorer > Type %temp% > Delete all the files

    7. Restart Internet Explorer

Please also insure that the Zoom Factor in IE is not set higher than 100%. If the issue still occurs, I’d recommend you to take Fiddler and Platform traces while reproducing the issue. Please let me know if you are not familiar with the steps needed for this and I am more than happy to provide them to you.

Thank you for using Microsoft Dynamics Community
