So this might seem like an odd request, but our logistic manager told us that sometimes, by customer's demand) goods from a direct delivery ( delivered from our vendors abroad directly to our customer) sales order, needs to be temporarily stored in our company's warehouse, until the customer confirmed they're ready for delivery or come and fetch the goods themselves.
So legally the goods are customer's property, although being stored in our warehouse; Thus we need to track it somehow to block it from being counted as our inventory or picked by logistic workers by mistake. Do you think it's possible to do in D365?
Thanks Luke. I agree that delivery to stock is the best option here.
Hi
I think this is what the previous response from Laurens was implying.. but here it would possibly be better to not use the Direct delivery option. Instead, use the delivery to Stock option.
- Starting with the Vendor shipping the goods... You would first need to receipt them into a virtual warehouse (representing your companys warehouse). As a result of this step, the intercompany sales order can be shipped, and the purchase order received.
- Once the customer confirms they are ready, the goods can be shipped/delivered to them. The original sales order can then be delivered.
Hi Marco,
Maybe you can create a separate warehouse for this scenario? With a separate warehouse you can keep it outside your inventory.
