Removing hyphens from account descriptions

Does anyone know how to remove the hyphens from account number descriptions? We're trying to clean up our chart of accounts and use only the main segment ID as the account descriptions. Removing the other two segment IDs in the segment setup window seems to work to a point, but it leaves the separating hyphens, so the description looks like this: cash--.

Short of using a SQL script or integration manager, is there a quick and easy way to turn that function off?
